PEACE - Fruit of the Spirit

“You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst out into song before you, and all the trees of the fields will clap their hands.” Isaiah 55:12.

The above read verse promises us that, as we go out in joy, we are led in peace; by holding onto the joy of the Lord, peace will guide us in our ways. Peace is knowing that the Lord of the universe, is in ultimate control of our lives no matter what. Peace is not a physical feeling but it is a spiritual experience given by the Holy Spirit. Peace is never the absence of problems, but it is the presence of God amidst it.

In Galatians we read that peace is the fruit of the Spirit. It is the attribute of the Holy Spirit living in us. We may go through tough times and rocky roads, but the peace given by our God cannot be taken away from our hearts. Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. He said in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” As the psalmist sings, we can lie in peace because our God is our refuge and He makes us dwell in safety. Until we are held in His hands, there is no fear of the world that can affect us. We are God’s own property and the devil has no rights to touch our peace.

Also, we are not only on the receiving end of the peace of Christ, but to make peace with our fellow mates. For Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.”(Matthew 5:9) When we make peace within our community we reflect the likeness of God. Also by making peace, we edify one another in Christ. In today’s violent world, let our heart’s cry be, to make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.(Romans 14:19) Amen!
