TAKE DELIGHT

“Unless Your law had been my delight, I would then have perished in my affliction.” Psalm 119:92.

We go through a lot of problems and trials in our lives. There have been times when our burdens are too heavy, that we were not able to hold up. We should have sunk under our burdens and sorrows. As the psalmist says, we would have perished long ago. But today we still stand, only by the grace of God and the strength of His Word.

God’s Word are not just mere words; They refresh our minds and speak to our hearts and strengthen our lives. In the above mentioned Psalm, what prevented the psalmist from perishing was not the end of affliction and troubles, but rather the delights he had in God’s law. He took pleasure in the Word of God. Even today, we might face difficult situations that might cause us to grieve; but the knowledge of the Word wouldn’t let us sink. When we take delight in His Word, it will surely bring great joy to realize that all our problems and troubles are temporary; and our God is mightier than anything that this world may throw at us. The delight comes by believing God’s Word. When we believe in all the miraculous works of God, as revealed in His law, it gives us hope and strength to pursue Him.

Let us not be carried away by the burdens that hit us, but constantly delight in the Word of God. As Psalm 1 explains, ‘Blessed is the man, whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates His law day and night’, let us stock up our faith in His Word and continue to delight in Him. Amen!
