“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105
Here in this Psalm, the psalmist describes that, just as a lamp brightens a path for us to walk, so does the Word of God illuminates and brightens our path in right directions. People in ancient days, carried lanterns and lamps along with them through their journey, to lighten up their paths. It was a crucial element needed for them, to distinguish their way.
Likewise in today’s dark and strange world, we need a Light that brightens our paths and guides us unto truth. In Proverbs 6:23 we read, ‘For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; reproofs of instructions are way of life.” Only God’s Word can provide us the right direction, for the Bible says that the ‘Word of God is alive and active’. All the Scriptures given to us are God-inspired and God-breathed. When we read and meditate on His Words frequently and adorn them in our hearts, They light up our paths and provides us with the direction and wisdom that we need to succeed. God’s Word will help us to make right choices in difficult situations. The Bible is our go-to manual for living a God pleasing life.
John chapter 1 reveals us, the Word is Jesus Christ Himself. He is our Light. In John 8:12, Jesus spoke to them saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Therefore, when we read the Word of God and apply them in our lives and have Christ in us, our paths are lit and ways are directed according to the will of God.
