HIS EVERLASTING KINDNESS

“For a mere moment I have forsaken you, but with great mercies I will gather you. With a little wrath I hid my face from you for a moment; but with everlasting kindness I will have mercy on you,” says the Lord your Redeemer.   Isaiah 54:7

What a comforting verse for mankind! There are a lot of times when we fall into sin and spiritual darkness, yet, we stand today because of God’s forbearance and His everlasting mercies and kindness. The chapter of Isaiah 54, talks about the restoration of the people of Israel and their peace covenant with God.

Throughout the Old Testament, we read how the chosen people of God, turned their ways away from Him and sought other gods. Our God is of purer eyes than to behold evil, and cannot look on wickedness. He is holy and cannot tolerate sinful ways. Today, we might not follow or worship other gods of the world, but we have to examine, on what is holding us back from the Lord. What is that idol in our lives, which God hates? There can be many idols we struggle with, even without realizing them. Anything that we value too much than God, becomes an idol in our lives. It can be our relationships, money, fame, entertainment, gadgets, career, education, etc., In 1 John chapter 5, John concludes saying, ‘Little children, keep yourselves from idols’; in this chapter, he talks about the sin leading to death. Idolatry is a sin that leads unto eternal death.

Every man has sinned against God, and every sin has its own consequences. But when we repent of our sins and align our ways to the will of God, His mercies are beyond our expectations and thoughts. Our God is slow to anger and abundant in loving kindness, He relents from doing harm. Today, let us take a moment, and examine our lives; cast away all our iniquities and ungodly ways, and once again re-align our desires to the will of God. For, He wants to restore our lives in Him and grant us His peace, protection  and prosperity.
