GIVE GENEROUSLY

“Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts- 20:35

In today’s world, the heart to give others is challenging. Life has become a race, competing with our fellow people, striving to be better than others. Jealousy, selfishness and pride has taken over the hearts of mankind. But, the Bible records that ‘giving’ is an act of worship. God loves a cheerful giver.

Our God is the true greatest example of a giver; for He gave His only Son as a sacrifice for us - who were sinners and enemies to God. Jesus Christ our Savior, gave His life, for us to be a part of the heavenly kingdom. What a gracious and generous God we serve! God expects us to demonstrate His generosity to the needy around us. Hebrews 13:16 says, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.” Giving involves more than money or other material requirements; there are people scattered in this world, in need of true love and compassion and care. We can extend our time and friendship, and sow the good news of the gospel through our deeds.

In Luke chapter 18, we read about the rich man having an encounter with Jesus; but he left sorrowful because he wasn’t having the heart to give people. He kept the law of the Lord and followed all the commandments given to the people of Israel; yet his richness was hindering his spiritual growth. We always need to remember that, all what we possess today is only by the grace of God in our lives. We ought to give others freely as we have received it. God has blessed us to be a blessing to many. Let us make it a point to reach out to the people who are in need, and sweep the place around us, with the love of God. Let our hearts be molded to a sacrificial and a cheerful generosity.
