SEEK HIM FIRST

  “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” Matthew 6:33

        The above quoted scripture, from the Sermon on the Mount, is self-explanatory. Jesus speaks of man’s worries over worldly things and ends the passage saying, seek the kingdom of God first and all that you need shall be granted. ‘To seek’ means, to go after, to look for, to strive for, or pursue. It is not about executing a routine. 

        How far are we longing to pursue God? It is not limited to our bible readings and prayers alone. It is about aligning our priorities and putting God first, in all spheres of our lives. We need to prioritize God, and hunger and thirst for His Kingdom. We and our motives, should decrease and let Him increase. Let God’s will be done in our lives. Proverbs 3:6 says, “ In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success.”

        ‘In everything’ means ‘absolutely all things’. We need to let God into each and every area of our daily lives. There are so many distractions in this world, that tends to draw our attention from God. In today’s world, our jobs, businesses, family, money and other entertainments have taken the place where God belongs. We run into the world to seek ideas and insights. But, the Word of God says, anything that comes between God and us is an ‘idol’. God hates it. 

      Let our lives be pleasing to God; making Him our top priority. May we develop a deep and intimate relationship with God, talking and walking with Him throughout our day. God remains available and ready for us to find Him, whenever we seek Him. Let’s put God FIRST, in our
