KEEP SOWING...

“Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!... For in this the saying is true: ‘One sows and another reaps’.” John 4:35&37

The above mentioned scripture, are the words of Jesus Christ Himself to His disciples, after the encounter of the Samaritan woman with Him. In the conversation between Jesus and the woman, we see, the Samaritan woman knew that she was the descendant of Jacob, about how they worshiped on that mountain and even that, the Messiah would come and reveal things to them. Jesus never told of these things to her. Someone has sown a seed in her heart. Though it wasn’t evident to be fruitful in her life, she had the seed growing within her. At the right time, Jesus came to reap the harvest.

When we share the goodnews of the gospel with our friends, colleagues, and even to our own family members, it might seem that they pay no heed to it. They might mock us or humiliate us. But we have to be patient, and never be tired of sowing in their lives. Psalms 126:6 says, Sowing is the time of weeping, but harvest is the time of rejoicing. So, we need to keep sowing without looking for the winds or clouds; and in due season, the harvest would be bountiful. When Jesus revealed Himself to the Samaritan woman, the gospel sowed in her heart, gave forth fruits abundantly. She became an evangelist and because of her testimony, many believed in the Messiah; and the harvest was plenty.

Solomon in Ecclesiastes 11:4-6 says, “Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap. As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things. Sow your seed in the morning, and at the evening, and let your hands not be idle; for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or even both will equally do well.”

When we wait for perfect conditions and situations, to sow the Word of God in other’s lives, we will never get anything done. So let’s ignore the circumstances and invest in others, as the Word(1 Corinthians 3:7) says, “neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” To sow or to reap, let’s fulfill our purpose, and each of us will be rewarded according to our labor.
