“For thus says the Lord of hosts: “...for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.” - —Zechariah 2:8
King David, in Psalm 17 prays, ‘Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings, from the wicked who oppress me, from my deadly enemies who surround me.’ David was the ruler of a great dynasty. He must have been surrounded by royal military guards and armed retainers. But his trust and faith was not of the world but, was in the Lord Almighty. He constantly seeked for heavenly protection over his life and kingdom. When a great emperor’s safety is unreliable on his army, how far are we. What is our protection?
We all need protection over our lives, our families and relationships, our health and over our possessions. Nothing is certain in this world. Whom can we rely for our safety? Only our God can provide a divine protection over us. He is our rock, our fortress, our shield and our stronghold. God has promised us to keep us away from evil and from the enemy’s attack. From whom do we need protection? Who is our enemy? Is it from our neighbors, or coworkers? No. Our struggle is not with flesh and blood; but against the principalities and powers of the darkness. Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy our lives. But, our Savior came to give us life, life to the fullest.
Psalm 91:4 tells us, “Under His wings, shall you trust and find refuge.” When troubles come our way, we need to stay in that place of refuge in God. It’s the place of safety from any enemy. The God who protected Daniel in the lion’s den, is the same today; we just need to rely on Him and activate our faith in Christ. His blood provides a hedge of protection over us. The devil has no rights to even come near us; he has no access in God’s protection. No weapon formed against us, shall prevail. What a mighty and awesome God we serve! Today, let our prayers be so..
‘Our Gracious Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your protection over our lives. You are our shield and our hiding place; under Your wings, we find refuge. We submit everything that we have unto Thee. We now declare that, we are Your own property and the devil has no rights to touch us. Thank you for choosing each one of us, as Your children. In Jesus’ name, Amen!’
